New Gen Engineering Group, Inc. dba McIntosh & Associates, one of Bakersfield’s leading civil engineering firms specializing in land development, is seeking an experienced Civil Designer / Project Manager to join our growing team.
We are looking for a motivated professional who can independently manage projects, lead design efforts, and deliver high-quality improvement plans for a variety of development projects. This is a key role for someone who enjoys taking ownership and driving projects from concept through construction.
Position Summary
The Civil Designer / Project Manager will be responsible for managing and designing land development projects including commercial, industrial, and residential developments. This role requires strong technical expertise in Civil 3D, as well as the ability to coordinate with clients, agencies, and internal teams to successfully deliver projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple land development projects from initial concept through construction completion
- Prepare and oversee the design of grading, drainage, utility, and street improvement plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Coordinate with clients, architects, surveyors, and public agencies
- Oversee plan preparation, QA/QC, and ensure compliance with local agency standards
- Respond to agency plan-check comments and obtain approvals
- Support entitlement efforts, including tentative maps and project exhibits
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff
Qualifications
- Required:
- 5+ years of experience in civil engineering design and/or project management (land development)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Experience designing and preparing improvement plans
- Strong understanding of grading, drainage, utilities, and site development
- Proven ability to manage projects from start to finish
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Preferred:
- Experience working on projects in Bakersfield / Kern County
- Familiarity with local agency standards and approval processes
- EIT, PE, or on track for licensure
